A 24-year-old resident of Port Colborne is facing multiple charges after a single-vehicle crash on Highway 3 in Balmoral on October 15th. Haldimand OPP responded to the incident around 8:30 p.m. The crash caused damage to hydro poles, leaving wires across the roadway, but the roads have since reopened.
The driver was charged with Careless Driving and having Improper Tires. A roadside Alcohol Screening Device (ASD) was used, resulting in an “Alert” reading. As a result, the driver’s licence has been suspended for three days.
The lone occupant of the vehicle was taken to the hospital by ambulance as a precaution but has since been released. No further injuries were reported.
Authorities continue to remind the public to drive safely, especially during changing road conditions. The OPP remind motorists that no amount of alcohol or drug is acceptable to consume and drive.
