There soon could be a “for sale” sign placed in front of the Port Dover and Port Rowan Harbour Marina.
Today at council, our elected officials are looking at a staff report that recommends that the county sell these assets, as it is the most straightforward and cost-effective option available and that continuing to allocate capital financing to the marinas will divert resources away from other services, which staff say is difficult to justify when weighed against the broader interests and needs of the community.
Alternatively, staff noted that if Council wishes to retain ownership of the marinas, it is recommended that Council direct staff to proceed an Operating Contract option, that would see the county retain ownership of the marina while sharing revenue and expenses with a private operator.
