A great community event to get kids outside and having some fun.
This Saturday is the Axtion Sports Jam 2024 For Children’s Mental Health taking place at the Waterford Skate Park.
It’s a free family-friendly event to showcase Skateboard, Scooter, and BMX skills while bringing awareness to children’s mental health fitness.
We spoke with Brian Timmons from the 100% Skateboarder Sk8club- Ontario Canada chapter about why events like this are important.
Although some age groups will be competitive, the event aims at celebrating each other’s skills at every level.
For Timmons, he says he knows first hand the impact skateboarding can have on someone.
Haldimand-Norfolk REACH is driving this event forward, with registration information here.
In a post promoting the event, REACH notes that:
“Mental Fitness is like a muscle and the more you work it, the stronger it gets.
When it’s in good shape, mental fitness helps us think and act in positive ways that benefit our families, friends and communities. Taking part in action sports is a great way to grow your mental fitness, deal with stress, exercise, and have fun.”
