The Simcoe Heritage Friendship Festival is set to return this weekend in Norfolk County, taking place in Wellington, Clifton, and Grant Anderson Parks. As the August long weekend approaches, the community eagerly anticipates the festival, a beloved tradition in the area.
Festivities kick off on Friday with the Downtown Simcoe BIA’s party on Argyle Street at 5:30 PM. The party will feature the The Atkinson Brothers Band, a kids srea and a beer garden. Then the main festival activities begin on Saturday morning at 11:00 AM, with the opening ceremonies scheduled for 11:30 AM. Attendees can look forward to live music, a variety of delicious food, and numerous vendors stationed at the parks near Downtown Simcoe throughout Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
We spoke with Sara Moody Veldhuis of the festival and asked what the secret to the festival’s success is?
There is a real sense of community spirit in the parks during the long weekend and Moody Veldhuis acknowledges that, as well as the nostalgia factor.
The Festival is popular with performers as well. There is a huge lineup of entertainment and live music, but Moody Veldhuis mentioned a few that stand out.
If you happen to be a Swiftie there is a little something extra for you!
It sounds like it’s going to be another great weekend in the parks. If you’d like to volunteer your time with the festival they are always looking for help. It’s as easy as applying on the Festival’s website here: https://www.friendshipfest.ca/volunteer-with-us
