Hamilton Health Sciences has stopped tonsil and adenoid surgeries at McMaster Children’s Hospital after two children died following the procedures.
We know of one child from Norfolk County who recently passed away a day after surgery but the hospital says a second child also died nine days after their procedure
The health network says there is no apparent connection between the two deaths but they are pausing surgeries out of an abundance of caution.
Outside experts are reviewing the pediatric tonsil and adenoid surgery program.
