
A Hamilton man charged with fraud after trying to scam a Norfolk resident.
On Monday morning, the victim received a phone call from someone posing as a lawyer claiming that a family member was in jail and that $9,100 needed to be paid for their release and that a bail bondsman would come to their home to collect the money.
After the initial payment, the victim was contacted again by the same individual, who claimed that an additional $16,000 was needed, saying that the bondman would return to get that money as well.
This time, the victim called the police, who apprehended the 22-year-old.
Rolvit Dsouza was charged with:
- Possession of a forged document with intent,
- Fraud over $5,000.
