Ontario is set to revamp how it compensates injured migrant workers.
The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board pays workers 85 per cent of their salary if they are hurt on the job, but they claw back money earned from other work.
But the board’s president Jeff Lang says that is not fair since migrant workers who return home would usually earn far fewer dollars than if they were living in Ontario full time.
Lang says WSIB is reviewing 50 such claims dating back to 2007 and could pay out millions in retroactive compensation.
