An unusually strong solar storm hit the Earth over the weekend and produced northern lights across Norfolk County.
Normally the colourful lights in the sky are visible in more northern parts of Canada, but recent solar activity allowed them to be seen as far south as Alabama and northern California.
The Solar Storm caused the U-S National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to issue its first geomagnetic storm watch in nearly 20 years.
The concern was that the storm could disrupt power and communications starting tonight.
NOAA alerted operators of power plants and spacecraft in orbit to take precautions.
