An update to a story we brought you yesterday regarding a stolen vehicle in Waterford that didn’t make it far before going off road.
On Monday afternoon, police say a man in a ski mask stole a blue 2002 GMC Sierra pickup truck from an Old Highway 24 location but shortly after he was involved in a rollover collision on Thompson Road East.
After the collision, the suspect unsuccessfully tried to steal a vehicle from a motorist who had stopped to help.
He was taken into custody shortly after but following the arrest, the suspect proceeded to damage OPP property and assaulted an officer.
It was also discovered that the suspect had stolen a quantity of alcohol from a Simcoe business earlier that day.
24-year-old Tyden Hill of Brantford has been charged with:
- Theft of motor vehicle (two counts),
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand,
- Operation while prohibited,
- Fail to comply with Probation Order,
- Theft under $5,000 – shoplifting,
- Assault,
- Assault a Peace Officer,
- Mischief under $5,000 (two counts).
