Simcoe Little Theatre is thrilled to announce the staging of “The Wolves,” an exploration of adolescence, teamwork, and the journey to self-discovery through the lens of a teenage girls’ soccer team.
Director Jason Mayo explains that the audience gets to eavesdrop on conversations prior to soccer games and practices.
This play had a number of draws for Mayo to direct it. First, he is a teacher at Waterford high school, so the name of the play seemed very fitting as it matched Waterford’s school mascot. More than that though, Mayo had played soccer growing up and has coached girl’s soccer in the past. Last, the play had been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, and once he read the script it became evident why.
The show will be put on at the Simcoe Little Theatre, located at 33 Talbot Street North and Mayo believes that the venue only adds to the production as a whole.
Mayo further adds, “We’ve worked diligently to ensure that every moment on stage is charged with authenticity and emotion. Our talented cast promises to bring the compelling stories of these young athletes to life.”
Showtimes are scheduled for 2:00 PM or 7:30 PM, between May 2nd to the 12th. Tickets are available for purchase at www.simcoelittletheatre.org or by contacting the box office at 519-583-0505.
