A lot of hockey parents and players will be keeping a close eye at council chambers this afternoon.
Councillor Alan Duthie is looking to put a motion on the floor to investigate bringing ice back to the Simcoe Recreation Centre.
Duthie said the intention is to talk to everyone, from hockey groups to seniors, and find out if there is a compromise that can be made to allow ice to return.
Duthie told us that he heard often going door to door during his election campaign the need for more ice in Norfolk, and a recent survey brought the conversation to the forefront yet again.
Duthie also said the Simcoe Recreation Centre is designed for summer use as well, which is a valuable asset.
That meeting begins at 1 p.m. today.
Duthie will need support from his fellow councillors to get the motion on the floor to even be discussed.
A deputations has been added to the agenda as well from Norfolk Minor Hockey.
