The local Soroptimist International of Grand Erie club are looking to empower local girls with it’s annual Dream It * Be It event. The goal is, “Through education and access to role models, girls will be empowered to pursue their career goals and reach their full potential”
We had the opportunity to speak with the co-chair, Laurie Cappe about the event, and asked who could attend?
Cappe went on to say that this year’s event is a little extra special as it’s their 10th anniversary and a number of girls have returned to sit on the panel and become members. Also they have some special guest speakers.
The event will take place Saturday April 13th. Buses will be provided to all local highschools in Brant, Brantford, Norfolk and Six Nations of the Grand River areas. Cappe concluded by inviting all girls to come and enjoy themselves.
Under the day’s theme of Mental Health Surviving and Thriving theme, girls can attend jack.org’s one hour workshop on Mental Health, listen to keynote speaker Marisa Sterling (Assistant Dean of University of Toronto), a talk on Intuitive Journaling with Rhonda Arnott and many more workshops and activities. Young women who attend will be inspired, motivated, and empowered.
