
Police are investigating the details of a collision that resulted in the loss of one individual’s life and left another individual hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
At approximately 11:13 a.m. today, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment, with assistance from the Norfolk County Fire Department and Norfolk County Paramedic Services, responded to a collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of Highway 24 and Concession 13 Townsend in Simcoe.
As a result, one of the drivers, a 90-year-old resident of Norfolk County, was transported to a nearby hospital with severe life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased. The other driver was also transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Highway 24 between Windham Road 12 and Thirteenth Street West is expected to remain closed for the next several hours.
