To the disappointment of council, Norfolk County was not able to award their Amplify Norfolk Grant.
The Amplify Norfolk Grant Program supports the development and presentation of live entertainment events by Norfolk-based not-for-profit organizations. The grant will match up to 50% of eligible expenses and the organizer must commit an equal or greater amount of funding.
The grant committee received 10 applications, only four of which met the criteria set out for the grant. However, none of the applications were considered suitable for funding. There were some concerns about the application’s clarity and that may have lead to applications being unsuitable.
The funds for the grant will be returned to the council’s initiative reserve. The CAO will review the program, and report back to council with options on the future of the program.
