It appears that Ride Norfolk’s pivot to an on demand service was a successful one.
Since the pilot launched, Norfolk County staff say that ridership increased 45% between August 1st and December 31st in 2023, compared to the same time a year prior.
Data also shows from the beginning of May to the end of December last year, the county saw an additional $17,000 in fare revenue.
Over 20 new bus stops have been installed since launching the project, significantly increasing service availability to underserved areas of the County and within Simcoe.
Council is being asked tonight to extend the project.
