
Bell Media is ending multiple television newscasts and selling 45 of its 103 radio stations that broadcast across multiple provinces, including Ontario, after its parent company announced widespread layoffs.
My Broadcasting Corporation, which owns Oldies 99.7 and 98.9 myFM, announced the purchase of four new stations from Bell Media in the Kingston and Brockville markets which you can read more about here.
When it comes to TV, in an internal memo to its employees, Bell Media says news stations such as C-T-V and B-N-N Bloomberg would be affected immediately.
Weekday noon newscasts at all C-T-V stations except Toronto have ended and Bell is also scrapping its 6 p-m and 11 p-m newscasts on weekends at all C-T-V and C-T-V-2 stations except Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa.
