Norfolk County councillor Adam Veri took to social media to provide a bit of clarity regarding Norfolk’s new light up sign.
The sign was unveiled at the tail end of December at the Panorama, but was met with criticism online after it was revealed it that is had a price tag of over $30K.
In a post online, Veri noted that our elected officials did not approve the purchase of this sign, but that staff decided to reallocate funds that council had put aside, for an updated LED information sign on Cedar Street in Simcoe, to the new sign that was found on display at the Panorama.
Veri noted he was unaware this new sign was purchased until he saw the photos of it online.
He did note that one bit of good news is that the county has received grant funding that will offset 50% of the cost for the sign.
He also noted that had this matter come before council, he would have voted against the request.
