The Emergency Department at Norfolk General Hospital is feeling the strain as it is report a surge in patient volumes.
Specifically, the hospital is seeing a large increase flu, RSV, and COVID-19 illnesses in the ED and have frequently reached or exceeded 100% occupancy.
NGH is suggesting that residents stay home if they feel unwell, mask indoors, wash your hands frequently, and keep up to date with vaccines.
They also encourage residents to explore more options outside of the ED.
