The Simcoe Lions Club got a nod of approval from Norfolk County for their latest project – revamping Wellington Park.
Barry LaPlante spoke at Council on Wednesday to talk about the park, what it was, what it’s become, and what it can be.
Now, the Simcoe Lions asked permission to take the project head on and turn Wellington Park into something special.
This would be a phased approach, with upgrades to water and electrical and the building of the large gazebo and stage being first on the docket.
While they will be seeking funding from the higher levels of governments through different programs, they are not asking Norfolk County for any money on the project.
Council endorsed the idea, and look forward to working with the Lions moving forward.
