Norfolk County Heritage and Culture is hosting their 3rd annual Norfolk County Genealogy Symposium.
It happens this Saturday in Simcoe where people can find new ways to uncover family history.
Beyond the usual births, deaths, marriages, and land records, participants will learn how to use legal documents such as Ontario Jail Records.
Four speakers also will bring their expertise to the event, which runs from noon until 4:30 p.m.
· Arthur McClelland – The Deller Dynasty: A Brick-Making Family
· Jane MacNamara – Ontario’s Records of Inheritance on FamilySearch
· Janice Nickerson – Debt, Drunk & Disorderly, Vagrancy, Theft, Assault, Insanity: Are you sure your ancestors were never in jail?
· Fraser Dunford – Land Records in Ontario
The Symposium is open to both beginner and veteran genealogists.
Tickets are $25 and include access to all four speakers, a swag bag, and light refreshments. An area with vendors and books for sale will also be on the premises.
