
The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario has denied Education Minister Stephen Lecce’s request to move to binding arbitrations should a new contract not be reach in late September.
ETFO President Karen Brown says there isn’t a one size fits all solution.
She says instead the union has applied for conciliation with the Minister of Labour.
The process brings in a third party to find a solution, often seen as a last resort before job action.
Brown’s union, the French, and Catholic School teachers will all be holding strike votes next month, but have not said they would result in disruptions to classes.
