The Ontario Provincial Police know you’ve heard this before, but the messaging remains necessary because incidents keep happening: Speeding and impaired driving kills.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt laid out the numbers seen on their patrolled roadways in 2023.
He says there’s been 375 impaired driving and 194 stunt driving charges laid in the past two weeks, a decrease from last year in the same timespan, but the year-over-year figures continue to climb.
Schmidt also said there’s been 257 deaths from collisions on roads, trails, and waterways this year.
