Simcoe Composite School students got to see their hard work pay off on Wednesday.
The Grade 12 construction class watched as their principal, Jennifer Ippolito, took a paddle board made by them for a spin on the Lynn River.
The principal was very pleased with the work done by the students.
Construction Technology teacher, Jeremy Theobald, said they have been hard at work for months.
The teacher was beaming with pride for his students seeing the project being put to use.
One of the students, Shannon Skinner, said this class actually helped her decide what she wants to do after high school.
She said the class did everything from the start, including picking out the wood.
Another student in the class, Gabe Baxter, said everyone pitched in with their own bits of the project.
He said it took most of the semester for the class to build the board, and they learned new things and how to use new machines while making it.
Theobald said they are working on a plan of how to display the paddle board in the school.
The students that worked on the project encouraged others thinking about taking the class to go for it.
