What a special moment in the heart of Simcoe.
After advocating and getting the community to rally their support and funds together, Ryder Mandrk and her supporters got to see the first ever Rainbow Crosswalk installed in Norfolk.
The intersection of Norfolk Street and Union Street is now brightly coloured thanks to the Ryder’s Rainbow project.
Our own Robynn Beazley was at the big event yesterday (Wednesday) and got spoke with Ryder.
Adam Veri was there from the beginning with Ryder, working hard behind the scenes to get this project done.
He said no matter what the future holds this moment is special.
With that, money is already flowing in for another crosswalk in the county.
Veri said they will keep advocating for more crosswalks until the money or interest dries up.
Jason Mayo was also on hand talking about how special of a moment this was, and how incredible Ryder’s journey has been.
Mayo also wanted help explain why this is such a special moment in Norfolk, for those who may not understand.
You can help donate to fund future projects on Ryder’s website.
