A summer picnic for a cause.
Nourish Norfolk, taking place next Tuesday, is a community event meant to promote inclusivity while making a positive impact on the community and environment.
The event, run by Core Impact Coalition, will include a picnic, activities such as a clothing swap, an art project, and summer games, and vendors on site.
Founder of the group, Amélie Chanda, and director, Carole Aeschelmann, stopped by the studio to tell us about the group and the upcoming event.
Chanda began with an introduction to the Coalition.
Aeschelmann said there are a few things you should bring with you as you’re getting ready to head to the picnic.
Their goal is for the event to have zero waste, so they encourage everyone to bring their dinner in reusable containers with no one-use plastic. They also encourage carpooling, biking, or walking to the space where possible.
There is a sliding scale price range of tickets for the event, with all of the proceeds going to a local food bank.
This event will take place on June 20 at Homegrown Hideaway in Port Dover. You can find ticket information at coreimpactcoalition.com.
The group thanked their sponsors for helping the event become a reality.
