Waterford may have their brand new skatepark before a decision is made on a new location for Simcoe’s.
On Tuesday, Norfolk County Council approved a grant of $100,000 for the Waterford Skate Park.
The funds will be provided as a grant and will be used to incorporate a BMX bike pump track into the park and cover increased costs resulting from inflation and other factors.
The Waterford Skate Park Committee has already raised $478,000 through various fundraising efforts, grants, and in-kind donations.
The county had previously contributed $200,000 to the project back in 2018 from the capital budget. With the current estimates putting the total cost at $778,000, this additional grant brings the project one step closer to completion.
Once finished, Norfolk County will assume ownership and take responsibility for the maintenance of both the Skate Park and BMX Pump Track.
More information on the plans for the park can be found on the Norfolk County website.
