It is Mental Health Awareness Week.
Lill Petrella, Mental Health Promotion with the Canadian Mental Health Association, Brant-Haldimand-Norfolk Branch, told us what this week is all about.
Throughout the week there are events happening to get people talking.
The goal of people sharing their stories is for everyone to see they are not alone in dealing with mental health issues and they do not need to suffer silently.
Open Doors for Mental Health Haldimand Norfolk is also taking place across the community all week.
The times and locations of those open houses can be found at bhn.cmha.ca.
CMHA wants people to feel comfortable reaching out for help when it is needed.
They have several programs that offer services to people with differing needs.
Petrella said the best thing to do is reach out and talk to someone at the agency if you think they may be able to support you.
