Norfolk General Hospital staff have been recognized for their dedication to the job.
An awards ceremony took place in February for the hospital and nursing home staff that were nominated for the 2022 Dr. George Marshall Award.
This award is given to an outstanding employee or team that shows passion for the work done at the hospital, with nominees and winners voted by their peers.
The Individual Award was given to Dan Wardell, who has been a member of the maintenance team for 31 years.
As a result of their patient-centred care, the Surgical Day Care team was the recipient of the group award.
In 2022, the team helped perform over 3,100 elective surgeries, more than 2,600 endoscopies, 1,600 medical daycare visits and assisted about 1,000 patients for minor procedures done outside of the operating room.
Jenny Martin Vandongen was named the Norfolk Hospital Nursing Home’s employee of the year.
