A food forest is coming to Simcoe.
Brooke Martin, one of the founding members of the group putting it together, explained what a food forest is.
After multiple deputations to Norfolk County Council, RISE was given approval for a 100 foot by 100 foot parcel of Waterworks Park at the corner of Chapel and Nelson Streets.
Martin said this location is ideal.
To make the project happen the group needs as much help from the community as they can get.
They are hoping people will be able to donate their time, provide financial donations, and any edible plants to the garden.
If you’re interested in helping out you can search for Simcoe Food Forest on Facebook, or contact Martin directly at simcoefoodforest@outlook.com or by call or text at 519-410-7566.
The goal is to have the garden prepped and planted by fall.
