A farming family planting their seeds in the rich soil of Downtown Simcoe.
And it is a family affair with all the Judd siblings and their spouses pooling their resources together to purchase both the former Westbrook’s Electric building and the former Courtesy Cab building.
That was Sarah Judd, talking about the family wanting to invest in a core that they knew their family had visited for generations.
The family was seeing that momentum in Simcoe’s downtown, and other downtown’s across Ontario, and they want to be part of that change.
The family had everything ready to go for their big new adventure, but there was an unforeseen delay that popped up.
As for the main floor, the hope is the community will see more progress later this year.
Sarah said it’s important for them that whatever takes over the main floor is something that would mesh well with the growing movement of Downtown Simcoe.
What they do know is the new community hub will feature commercial space that spotlights locally owned businesses and they are looking at this project as another way to boost the county’s profile.
Aside from the apartments, a newly commissioned mural of a blooming strawberry patch was placed on the building to further highlight the future of the core and their development.
