RISE is continuing to work with Norfolk County on creating a local food forest.
Tamra Smith spoke to council on Wednesday of last week to introduce the new members to the idea and request the park land in Simcoe.
A food forest is comprised of perennial, edible plants to help feed members of the communty.
This includes fruit trees, berry shrubs, and herbs.
After the deputation to council, Smith reached out to us here at the radio station with good news.
That community involvement will come in the form of volunteers and donations, such as fruit trees to plant in the garden.
We will follow up with Smith and RISE in the spring for an update on the garden.
