Ward 1 has a lot of unique challenges.
From infrastructure, to cellphone service, and tourism, there are a lot of things a potential representative of the area needs to consider.
That is why so many members of the community came out last week to hear from Tom Masschaele and Randy Mawhiney.
When it came to tourism, incumbent Masschaele wants to make sure multiple factors are considered.
He said consultation with all of the stakeholders needs to take place before things are put into place.
Mawhiney noted that this is a question asked on many committees in Long Point.
He said the county needs to be ready for tourists before they bring them in.
When asked what their number one priority is in Ward One, Mawhiney spoke about infrastructure.
Masschaele said high-speed internet and cell service in the area is his top issue.
The Long Point Country Chamber of Commerce is planning on publishing the entire debate on their Facebook page.
