The Haldimand Norfolk Health Unit is doing what they can to help prevent the West Nile Virus in Norfolk County.
West Nile virus is carried by mosquitoes, and one way to prevent the spread is to get rid of standing water around your home.
Mosquitoes lay their eggs in stagnant water, even in small amounts at least once a week.
You can also keep bushes and shrubs clear of overgrowth and debris and you should turn your compost pile often if you have one.
You can also cover as much skin as possible, when possible, and use bug repellent on you with DEET.
