The Federal government has put a freeze on handguns coming into the country, but stopping short of an all out ban on the weapons.
Norfolk County is home to many registered gun owners, and we spoke to Dan Nagy, owner of Eli’s Guns and Archery about the move.
Nagy has not been shy in the past about his opinions regarding Prime Minister Justin Trudeau or the Liberal government, using the sign out front of his store to often criticize the party on moves made, and this is no exception.
When we spoke to Nagy, he said they have been selling several handguns daily since the announcement came out.
He said that in Canada, if you wanted to get a handgun, you’d already have to jump through hoops to begin with.
He believes that the government is making the many pay for the mistakes of the few.
He says if death and prevention are the biggest factors, then there should be a broader approach.
Nagy adds that he has seen many gun owners selling their items as they leave the country due to the increase in gun laws.
