A Food Forest community garden could be on its way to Simcoe.
Tamra Smith from RISE presented to Norfolk County council on Tuesday.
A Food Forest is a community garden where volunteers plant and care for the fruits and vegetables, and any member of the community is able to go harvest a couple pieces for themselves.
The group attended different parks in town and mapped out the best possible locations for the garden.
The parks visited included Col. Stalker Park, Holmeswood Park, and Water Works Park.
Al Meneses, CAO, was hesitant to the idea.
Council was prepared to provide a piece of land.
That was Norfolk County Mayor Kristal Chopp.
The deputation was received as information.
Staff was instructed to look into the best location for this project and bring a memo back to council as soon as possible.
Anyone looking to volunteer with the group to help with the garden can visit Simcoe Food Forest on Facebook.
