Sheldon Simpson believes Haldimand-Norfolk needs a representative that can practice true Conservative values and be an free voice to speak on behalf of the riding.
Simpson spent many years living in Campbellville, loving the rural life, but found the area was getting further away from that country life he was after.
About a year and a half ago, his family moved down to the area and never looked back.
Simpson said he was a traditional Conservative voter, but couldn’t stand by and vote in the Progressive Conservatives for another term.
Simpson said he saw faults in the system for a while now, having family members in nursing home and concerns about how his children were being taught – and COVID brought it all the forefront.
He said one of his key reasons for going with the Ontario Party was the party leader.
Sloan came down to the area to endorse Simpson, and speak to some community members a few weeks ago.
Simpson said the hall was packed with supporters.
When it comes to issues that Simpson would like to tackle, farming and healthcare are top of mind.
For farmers, he said it’s becoming unaffordable to provide vital resources we all need and the healthcare system is at a breaking point – and you don’t have to look hard to see the flaws.
In the end, he believes Ontario needs to go back to it’s foundation – where people of different opinions come to a table instead of constantly divided.
