Another cannabis store could be coming to Simcoe.
What sets this location apart from the others is that it would be on the ground floor of a home on the corner of Victoria Street and Norfolk Street South.
An application for a zoning by-law change was put in front of council on Tuesday requesting a special policy be added to the property that is already zoned as retail and residential.
That was Nathan Kew, owner of the property.
Kew discussed fixing up the home after removing the former tenants.
He said it took a year of calls to the police, and the SWAT team entering the building to finally gain possession of the home.
While Kew is excited by the possibilities, the nearby neighbours are more reluctant.
That was Robert Kennaley, representing multiple nearby residents.
While they are hesitant about the retail space, the neighbours did extend their gratitude to Kew for his work to clean up that intersection over the last few years.
The presentation and public comments were received as information.
They will be used as staff prepares a recommendation report.
