
Here is everything you need to know about the parking pilot program heading to our lakeside communities.
In all three communities (Port Dover, Long Point, and Turkey Point) seasonal parking fine will increase from June 15 to September 15th.
No Parking fines will increase from $75 to $150
Parking more than time restrictions allow will increase from $35 to $75
In Port Dover:
Paid parking will be installed near the beach plus the Clinton Street municipal lot.
It will cost $5 an hour to park in these locations with the first hour free and no daily rates available.
Hours of paid parking will be from 10 am to 7 pm daily and paid parking will not be in effect for the 15 minute zones or accessible parking spaces.
In Long Point, there will be Paid Parking at Abigail Becker Parking Lot and the street parking on Abigail Becker at a rate of $3 an hour from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
In Turkey Point, there will be no paid parking but there will be improved signage related to parking infractions and staff will be investigating an all-way stop at Cedar Street and Turkey Point Road.
Additionally, an educational campaign will take place from May 15th to June 15th in the three communities.
Staff will be negotiating an agreement with HotSpot for provision of parking related services for the 2022 Seasonal Parking Pilot Project and are authorized to purchase and install stand-alone pay stations while not exceeding $85,000.
Additionally, a request has been made for to bring forward a report and business case to the April 12th Council in Committee meeting related to the hiring of an additional Parking Enforcement Summer Student for parking enforcement during the pilot project period.
Staff has also been asked to investigate establishing a parking lot at the Turkey Point pavilion, amending parking spaces along Ordnance Avenue & Jenny Wren Lane in Turkey Point and consulting with Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks to determine if additional parking can be established in Long Point.
