Grand Erie District School Board Trustees are waiting on the provincial lead before lifting mask mandates in their kindergarten classroom.
After deputations and much discussion on the matter last night, a motion was put on the floor to have the mask mandate put into effect by the GEDSB be revoked at the next meeting at the end of this month.
Trustees were torn on the motion, with several trustees and staff on the meeting believing it was best to wait a few weeks to see what moves the province makes and they could come back to this discussion at that time.
In the end, the motion failed in a tie vote.
Many trustees believe that the province will be making some form of masking announcement in the coming weeks, and feel that masks could be rescinded during this time.
