RISE-Norfolk is looking at bringing a Food Forest to Norfolk County.
Unlike other food gardens that other charitable groups have started in the community, a food forest cuts out the middleman when it comes to accessing food grown.
At a recent RISE meeting, they heard about the Brantford Food Forest, located in a public park near a playground, the offers free food for those to pick and eat at their leisure in the community.
That was RISE chair Tamra Smith.
She says the volunteer group wants to get the ball rolling in the near future.
After the fact, they will be looking for community partners to help maintain and grow this idea.
