The Norfolk General Hospital and the West Haldimand General Hospital plan on taking a phased approach when it comes to loosening visitor restrictions.
Effective immediately, both hospitals will no longer seek rapid testing from patients’ essential caregivers, support persons, or visitors and proof of vaccination will also not be required.
Visitation will be allowed daily, with up to four designated visitors per patient – but only one visitor at a time.
Visiting hours will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
More details are below:
• Outpatient clinics and appointments: All patients can now bring one Support
Person with them (previously this was in exceptional circumstances only).
• Emergency Department Care: One visitor and/or caregivers can visit anytime.
• Spiritual Care Visitors: Faith community leaders who are registered with NGH
and WHGH can visit during visiting hours with all their congregants and/or
parishioners who are in the hospital.
• End of life/ gravely ill: Palliative/end of life patients may have up to four
designated visitors: two can visit at a time and have no time frame.
