Haldimand-Norfolk’s former Medical Officer Of Health continues to make headlines in the farming community.
Yesterday, Dr. Shanker Nesathurai, serving as Acting MOH for Windsor-Essex, instructed all businesses to halt any plans to bring in temporary foreign workers for at least three weeks due to Omicron and several farm outbreaks.
This move could affect thousands of workers and several agricultural operations.
A majority of the hotels used for self isolation, specifically for migrant workers, are now essentially full in the area.
In December, Acting MOH for Haldimand-Norfolk Dr. Matt Strauss revoked an order that limited 3 migrant workers to one bunkhouse when arriving in Canada.
No details have come out yet locally if any other new rules will come in it’s place.
