The Grand Erie District School Board received two deputations last night (Monday) looking at COVID-19 restrictions and their impacts on children.
Rob Hunter, who previously addressed the board, believes children in Kindergarten should not be wearing masks, citing a SickKids release that was released days prior to the board making masks mandatory for this age group.
Hunter was also concerned at the fact that, in his request for information, very few trustees took the time to speak with him about his concerns.
His request was not to just listen, but to take action.
Aside from a question about whether his daughter goes to school or not, the deputation was received as information.
Dr. Martha Fulford spoke next, an infection disease physician at McMaster University with an extensive medical background.
Her concerns surrounded rules and restrictions in place and their impact on children.
She was quick to say that COVID-19 does affect some children, but there are a few common factors.
Dr. Fulford believes this knowledge should be taken into account when decision are made moving forward.
Trustee Greg Anderson, saying he knew he was taking a bit of a risk, thanked Fulford for her comments.
The deputation was then received as information.
