Police have provided more information on the duck hunters who needed assistance while out on the water during Saturday’s wind storm.
The Norfolk OPP reports that two individuals were on Lake Erie duck hunting when their vessel was blown into the bay and began taking on water.
Both individuals were wearing life-jackets and were able to leave their boat and make it back to the shoreline where they were seen by Norfolk County Paramedics.
Police, the Norfolk County Fire Department, Norfolk County Paramedic Services, along with the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre Trenton (JRCC), the Canadian Coast Guard, and the United States Coast Guard responded to the incident in Long Point Bay.
The Norfolk County OPP is encouraging everyone that may be venturing out onto the water for any reason to plan ahead by packing proper safety equipment and checking the weather forecast before heading out.
