A Simcoe resident loves not only this county, but the country as a whole – especially when it comes to electronics, inventions, and Canadian history.
Professor Mark Rector has an interesting history himself, joining the Toronto Police when he was 18-years-old as a radio technologist due to his interest in electronics, working with the force for 16-years, then moving on to teaching – eventually leading to a full time gig at Humber.
It was during this time he would throw in little facts about Canadian inventions for his students, something they really connected to.
This idea started to percolate inside Professor Rector’s head, and found support from his University and lead to a true Canadian journey.
With the research complete, he knew some of the stories he wanted to tell – the next step was trying to figure out how to tell them.
Professor Rector is now living his best life, travelling around to speak at engagements due to his book and getting people interested in Canadian history while settling down and planting roots in Norfolk County.
