The Ontario Liberal Party is advocating for the removal of Haldimand-Norfolk’s Acting Medical Officer Of Health Matt Strauss.
A letter has been sent to Premier Doug Ford and Dr. Kieran Moore saying they must act to protect children in our area because of Strauss’ recent comments regarding COVID-19 vaccines in kids.
In the story we reported yesterday, Strauss talked about not being able to make a blanket statement to recommend vaccines to children saying it is ultimately a family decision.
Liberal House Leader John Fraser said that at this point in the pandemic, we can’t have public health official sowing doubt and it asking for his removal.
This is not the first time time Strauss has been in the Ontario Liberal’s radar, with a similar letter being sent prior to Strauss’ appointment asking for top officials to step in and prevent him from holding this position due to controversial tweets.
