The Norfolk General Hospital leaders have stated that they are committed to bringing obstetrical care back to Simcoe.
Currently, the Labour and Delivery Unit has been closed, and temporarily transitioned to Brantford due to a lack of staff.
In the media release, it says their first priority is patient care, which wasn’t possible in this unit due to the nursing shortages in Canada.
They are actively engaged in working group meetings with a broad range of stakeholders to develop a plan for the safe transition of obstetrical care back to Norfolk General.
There was no timeline provided on the return of the Labour and Delivery unit.
