Norfolk County has sold the HUB land.
The $4.35 Million deal was made with Calibrex Developments of Newmarket.
The land, at the corner of Ireland and Decou in Simcoe, was purchased by the County during the application process for funding for a possible community hub complex.
Mayor Kristal Chopp announced the sale to members of the media on Friday morning.
As part of the purchase offer, Calibrex agreed to transfer 1.5 acres of the land to the Haldimand Norfolk Housing Corporation.
Community partners that will benefit from this space are Haldimand-Norfolk Womens Services, Norfolk Association for Community Living, and possible student housing for Fanshawe College.
Chopp added $1 Million will be able to go back into reserves, to help pay for renewal of current recreational facilities.
Once water is available for development in Simcoe, more than $3 Million in development fees will be paid to the County, and an additional $1 Million annual tax revenue is anticipated.
