Premier Doug Ford has written an open letter to medical experts and health units asking for their opinions when it comes to reopening schools for this semester.
In the letter, Ford talks about mental health, academic and other challenges some students have faced with at home learning.
With that, he also spoke of the Science Table suggesting that reopening schools to in-class learning could lead to an increase of six to 11 per cent in the number of new daily cases.
He also spoke about the rising number of variants first identified in India and the effectiveness of only having a first dose to combat this new strain.
He then asked a series of questions to medical experts with a goal of having these answers submitted by tomorrow at 5 p.m.
The letter can be found in full below.
