A local business owner is advocating for the Ford government to reverse course on their decision to close boat launches.
Right now, under the new orders put in place, marinas and boat launches are off limits.
Ray Ferris, owner of Old Cut Boat Livery in Long Point, believes the closure of the boat launches is nothing more than an oversight by the provincial government as they were trying to stop the rapid spread of COVID-19 variants.
Much like the provincial rollback on playgrounds, he is confident a similar decision will be made.
Ferris was clear that he completely understands orders in place by the Ford government, he just feels this is a great safe option for families to take part in with so many other options being closed down due to the risk of spreading the virus.
Last year, as restrictions started to loosen slightly going into the late spring and early summer months, boat launches were one of the first items opened up for the public to do.
Ferris said his businesses, and businesses around the province, take their roles very seriously and knows there is a safe way for families to enjoy the water.
Ferris is asking residents in Haldimand-Norfolk and abroad to write to their MPPs.
He says Members of Provincial Parliament need to hear from their constituents about this issue so they can bring it to the Premier’s attention.
